On January 31, 2020, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office responded to and investigated an officer-involved shooting incident that occurred on Uvas Road in unincorporated Morgan Hill. It was reported that Deputy Sukhdeep Gill was ambushed while parked along a turnout on the rural county road. After conducting an extensive investigation and looking into all of the evidence according to County protocols, Sheriff’s Detectives believed that the evidence suggested that the shooting did not occur as reported and was fabricated.
