Fill out the ride-along request form then e-mail it to Veronica Lara or drop off the form with her at the Headquarters Patrol Division at 55 W. Younger Avenue in San Jose. If you have any questions:

The background process typically takes 6 to 9 months.
The Sheriff's office typically offers two agility tests a month from January through September, and one a month from October through December. The Sheriff's office no longer offers the written test on testing dates. All written tests are now available through the National Testing Network (NTN).
As long as you meet the minimum qualifications and can pass the written and agility test, you are eligible to be hired.
The Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requires that you be 21 years of age.
